Biography

Bibek Banerjee, is a Professor of Marketing and an Honorary Director of Academy of Indian Marketing. His initial two decades of his career was spent as Professor of Marketing at IIM Ahmedabad, after which he got into institutional leadership positions. He has published in academic journals such as Marketing Science, Journal of International Consumer Marketing, Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics, International Journal of Management, Vikalpa: the Journal for Decision Makers, and others. He has received several recognitions including Professor of the Year at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. Bibek was instrumental in establishing the American Marketing Association-supported Doctoral Consortium for Scholars and Young Faculty in Marketing & Consumer Sciences in India. Bibek has worked with the industry deeply throughout his career in the domains of leadership development with organizations such as Ericsson, Coca Cola, Citibank, Aditya Birla Group, Microsoft, GE-Genpact, Jubilant FoodWorks, INFOSYS, TATA group, Unilever India, HDFC Bank, TVS Group, Phillips, Oil India Limited, HCL Technologies, and several others.He was instrumental in creating the collaboration between IIM-Ahmedabad and the world’s top Leadership Education Institution of Duke University, USA – wherein he served as the Managing Director of the collaboration. Until recently, Bibek was the Senior Dean of University Strategy at Shiv Nadar University, one of India’s Institutions of Eminence (IoE); as well as the Dean of its School of Management and Entrepreneurship. Bibek has held visiting professor positions in several universities around the world. His BSc (Economics Honors) degree is from University of Calcutta’s St. Xaviers’ College; and his PhD and MS degrees are both from Purdue University, USA, in the areas of in Industrial Organization and Marketing Science.
